Greatness

Often greatness is a courageous response to an unexpected event.

I don’t know about you, but sometimes I daydream about doing something fantastic with my life. During Lent, I often talk to God about what he/she wants me to do with the remainder of my life, assuring God I will be up to it whatever he/she decides I am meant to do. God’s answer to my fantasy about my abilities reminds that often our destiny comes from the unexpected, not from some life long plan.

Lenten discipline gives us the tools to handle the unexpected with courage. Self-sacrifice, prayer, meditation, service, and spiritual study all prepare us for whatever comes our way.

Courage is in everyone’s DNA, it only needs a catalyst.
