Easter Bunny

Easter Day is almost here. Holy Week is right around the corner. So are jelly beans, deviled eggs, bunnies, and spring flowers. Seems inconsistent doesn’t it. I need a good Luis sermon to help me understand how they all work together. I admit I’m more of a “Welcome Happy Morning” kind of guy than a “crucify him” shouter.

God enjoys us at play. I am confident that he/she would love watching children search for dyed eggs, or join me in a ham biscuit. But I suspect he would temper his/her enthusiasm for the Easter Bunny with a reminder that we not forget his son and all that he went through for us.

Holy week teaches us to concentrate on what’s important and still come Easter enjoy all the magnificence of Spring. There is plenty of time for both.
