Feed My Lambs

On three occasions after Christ’s crucifixion, Jesus asks Peter, “Do you love me.” And when Peter professes his love, Christ tells him to “feed my lambs.”

There are lots of hidden meanings in this story including Peter who denied Christ three times being asked three times if he loves Jesus. But despite Jesus being the king of the subtle and parable, perhaps this time he is trying to hit us over the head with a hammer — feed my lambs.

Perhaps he is saying all your wailing, gnashing of teeth, and broadcasting one’s faith is missing the point. If we love God, do something about it. Feed and care for those who Christ loved. Nothing more, nothing less.
