Followers of the hubbell pew know of one of my favorite sayings. “The Good Lord doesn’t give you a load you can’t tote.” Each of us face times when we may say to ourselves that I may be able to carry this burden, but my back may break in the process. I was in one of those moods when I thought about Adam Smith, and the law of supply and demand. (Don’t ask how I got from tote sacks to Adam Smith, I’m not quite sure.) Anyway, I realized that heaviness of spirit is never imposed on us without our consent. Life is never without a reservoir of gladness and joy if only we are receptive. Whenever I confront my own weaknesses or environment, if I look closely I will find a facility within myself to grapple with it. With every need there is some resource with which it can be met. All supply in nature’s wonderful expression, is developed in response to special demand.
