“When will you comfort me.” — Psalm 119:82.
One quickly learns to never check the box yes if the question is, “Have you ever been depressed?” At a minimum you will find yourself answering a hundred more questions about your mental health. On sabbatical a “yes” answer would send you straight to solitary confinement.
The truth is that all of us struggle from time too time with depressive thoughts. We can’t always be rays of sunshine. A little gloom now and then is as much a part of human nature as a belly laugh.
There are many cures for the “moody blues,” but a sure fire cure is to spend a bit of time talking to God. I’m not talking about a prayerful and humble whisper, I suggest a forceful unload. Much like the psalmist who shouts “When will you comfort me.” I promise God is listening.
