Second Sunday in Lent

Source of my life’s refreshing springs

Whose presence in my heart sustains me

Thy love ordains me pleasant things

Thy mercy orders all that pains me. – A.L. Waring

During Lent we spend so much time on our sacrifice we forget our blessings. This morning outside my window a red sun is rising over a vast expanse of ocean. How can I not be grateful and in awe of the mystery and blessings in my life. When I reflect on my years I see nothing but a vast mass of mercies and blessings. What others may call crosses, afflictions, judgments and misfortunes that may have occurred in my life, upon reflection I have to say they have proved to be secret and dissembled favors of God’s affection.
