The comfort of a mind at rest
From every care Thou has not blest;
A heart from all the world set free
To worship and wait on thee. – A.L. Waring.
Your Lenten discipline has taken you far and you have learned by now that you are a great deal happier since you have given up thinking about and being discontented over things you can’t have. Once I got over wishing for an oatmeal raisin cookie, and instead been content to do without, my mind experienced a certain freedom. Our life is determined for us to some extent, although not totally, but Lent teaches us to spend less time wishing and more time bearing what is laid upon us, and doing what we are given to do.
