As having nothing, and yet possessing all things. – 2 Cor. 6:10
I was recently reminded of R.W. Emerson’s words:
Out of love and hatred, out of earnings and borrowings, and lendings and losses; out of sickness and pain, out of wooing and worshiping; out of traveling, and voting, and watching, and caring; out of disgrace and contempt, comes our tuition in the serene and beautiful laws. Let him not slur the lesson; let him learn it from the heart.
Sadly, there will always those who try to pour salt in our wounds, rekindle the mistakes of the past, and define us by our worst moments. But there are always a much greater number of neighbors and family there to guide us through the problems that life sets before us with courage and good cheer. Just as importantly, they are there to remind us that we deserve God’s favor and to help us to use and receive it. Cling to the good and nurturing and celebrate your survival of past.
