Inserted between two pages of Danny’s Bible is the following: “Don’t worry Grandma. Shots don’t hurt much.”
Now why she cut this out and put it in her bible among all the prayers, quotes, and her own thoughts, I don’t know. But maybe, just maybe, she put it there to remember that what we say as adults is heard by children.
A thing to remember on this day after the elections, I think. One of the many things football taught me is if you win you act with dignity, grace, and humility. One never gloats or taunts their opponent after a win. If you lose you also act with dignity and grace, praising your opponent. One never blames the refs or foul play.
There is always in this country another day, another election, but for this yellow dog democrat the shot we just took does hurt a little.
