Maurice Sendak writes that he observed that life is largely a matter of “having your child self intact and alive and something to be proud of.”
When a dark cloud appears I find that discovering the light involves locating the child that remains with me. As we age that inner child tends to go into hiding, but if we are smart we won’t lose him/her altogether. The inner child rescues us from depression, pain, and cynicism. Today is a good day to reacquaint oneself with the child within by climbing a tree, skipping a stone across a pond, or simply drawing on one’s memories.
Remember what brings the inner child to the forefront and honor him/her.
