Happy?

Happy are those … Who never do any wrong, but always walk in his ways. — Psalm 119:2-3.

I wouldn’t know about this kind of happiness. Despite the best of intentions, I haven’t made perfect status yet, probably never will. None of us hit the perfection threshold, but despite our failings we are still loved by God.

Are any of your children perfect? Probably not, but if you are like me you love them with your whole heart. Do any of your friends disappoint from time to time? Of course they do, and you love them nonetheless. The examples of our unconditional love stretch to the moon.

Life teaches us to extend our love despite failures and mistakes. Perfection as a goal is not only unobtainable, but also can be harmful.

To love unconditionally is never a mistake or wrong.
