Lenten Discipline

I wonder if I shouldn’t go back to Ash Wednesday and promise to give up all social media for Lent. Although it wouldn’t be a sacrifice but a blessing.

My publisher wants me to participate on social media to promote my books, but the frustration and disgust with what people post sometimes has caused me to have unholy thoughts. The constant texting and checking to make sure I am who I am is starting to drive me crazy.

A forty day hiatus from social media is probably much better for me, than my lenten discipline when I was much younger — not watching TV for forty days.

I may need to have a prayer session with God. He probably will say I am acting like an old foggy.

  1. My scariest thoughts are typically after waking up; this week: If Joseph Goebbels had had our media access in the 1930’s, we would all be nazis today!

  2. Lenton discipline: cannot claim no cable tv as already chose to eliminate screaming in life. So cutting back social media – doable – not cutting it out. Hmm, why not totally out? Mere willpower? Or balance issue?: folks go to heaven for the climate, and they go to hell for the company.
