Must we always be at odds? — A question I posed during this morning’s meditation.
I have to be careful. There are times when I get so tired of the news that is filled with people at odds with each other that I am tempted to drop out. I got to that point while watching the evening news last night. I know, the world has been that way for as long as history has been recorded. But must we always at each others’ throats?
We fight over land, religion, philosophies, and all sorts of material things. But must we?
I am a Christian, but I have no problem with my neighbor worshipping in another way. In fact, I think a healthy discussion on the topic of two different religions and beliefs helps us understand our commonality more than our differences. Luis used to say believe as much as you can and that’s good enough with God. (My apologies Luis. I am sure I didn’t get that quite right.) I suspect that God is okay with Hindus and Muslims, Jews and Sufis, and any path that takes us to him/her, as long as that path is paved with love.
I have much more to say on this topic. My mediation took some time this morning, but bottom line. Must we always be at odds?
The answer is an unequivocal, NO!
