Grandparents

At my grandchildren’s school they have Grandparent’s day. We meet their teachers, listen to the children sing and explain their lessons, and of course, hear a pitch for contributions to the school.

Grandparent’s day has got me thinking. Is the nature of God more like a mother or father, or is it possible that God is more like a Grandparent. God has certainly been around for a while. Grandparents are often more generous, more forgiving,, and less judgmental than parents. Grandparents are interested in their grandchildren’s accomplishments, but don’t get caught up so much in yelling at the referees or worry about  things that won’t be important 20 years from now.

Next time you saunter down the park trail ask yourself, “Is the nature of God more like a grandparent?”

  1. Such a comforting thought! Yes, my grandparents loved me without judgement but with gentle guidance. So does Our Father love us even more!!
