Slow Down

This morning, the fluorescent lights of the grocery store blurred as I found myself instinctively rushing. I had to consciously pull back, whispering, “Slow down.” It’s a strange thing, this perception of speed. Even a gentle stroll can be a race against an invisible clock. My Lenten journey this year is a deliberate deceleration. To linger over words on the page, to notice the subtle shift of light on a walk, to truly listen before speaking. It’s a stark contrast to the frantic energy emanating from Washington, a reminder that haste, in any form, carries consequences. A rushed step leads to a fall, a hurried meal to discomfort, a rash decision to irreparable harm. So, this Lent, let’s embrace the grace of slowness. If morning prayers are delayed, God understands. If a study session is cut short, the knowledge remains. Allow yourself to be enveloped in the quiet comfort of divine presence. It’s in those moments of stillness that we truly connect.
