Yesterday’s Lie

Jean Rostand’s troubling statement, “In politics, yesterday’s lie is attacked only to flatter today’s,” echoes with unsettling accuracy. If only our leaders held truth in such high regard, and lies in deep contempt. But Rostand’s insight reaches further than the halls of power; too often, the foundations of our relationships in business and everyday life are built on shifting sands of illusion, not the solid ground of truth.

Yet, in the boundless space between us and God, no lies exist. This might be precisely where we can begin to eradicate the insidious creep of untruth from our own lives. Envision a private confessional with the Divine, a sacred space to unfurl every illusion. God, in His infinite wisdom, already knows them, but the act of surrendering them can be a deeply purifying experience. Whatever form this personal reckoning takes, let it be the catalyst to shatter the dishonest patterns that surround us.
