Inheritance

About this time in churches all across America we read and hear sermons about John the Baptist.

Recently I came across something that I hope provides food for thought. Saint Cyprian proclaimed that every Christian is another’s Christ. That by virtue of baptism we inherit a priestly and prophetic life and legacy. We are called at this rebirth to offer our lives in service of God.
As prophets we are to go above and beyond the limited vision, marred perspectives, and short-sighted machinations of the worldly and proclaim the glory of God and living a life of peace and kindness.
We are called to stand up against hatred and violence. We must stand up for all those who can’t stand up for themselves and for the dignity of all humans.
Quite a legacy and inheritance. Worth a thought or two.
