Morning is broken, like the first morning,
Blackbird has spoken, like the first bird,
Praise for the singing, praise for the morning,
Praise for the springing fresh from the world. — Eleanor Farjeon
My readers may remember this hymn better as having been sung by Cat Stevens. A link to the youtube is as follows: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X48weyESpec in case you want to listen while you read this morning’s meditation.
I am sure it has something to do with football and fall mornings in the hills of Arkansas, but fall mornings are my favorite time of the year. Like the song, fall mornings transcend any particular religion.
The song’s words echo a verse in the Jewish prayer book’s morning service that says God renews every day the work of creation. The song’s melody captures the moment of awakening.
I encourage each of you to take advantage of the fall mornings, when our mind and body and the world around us are in perfect harmony.
A morning in paradise, here on earth.
