Talk To Yourself With Love and Compassion

Do you talk out loud or internally to your yourself? Of course you do. In fact, I suspect for all of us we talk to ourselves all the time.

So here’s the question — What tone of voice do you use? Are you harsh, lecturing, and even abusive at times? I know I am. I am my own harshest critic.

My yoga instructor taught me something this morning. She was working on the knots in my back (and I have quite a few ) by using stretching techniques and by talking to them. She said I needed to be more compassionate to my aches and pains, after all each knot, ache, and pain was trying to tell me something about myself.

It got me to thinking about how I talk to myself. Not often do I speak to myself with compassion or love. It almost feels wrong to congratulate oneself or to care for myself. How silly is that?

God tells us to love one another, but I don’t think God means to leave ourselves out of the equation.

Humans are loving and compassionate creatures for the most part, and every once in a while we need to talk to ourselves with love and compassion. It feels good to love and be loved. Unconditional love is one of God’s greatest gifts, so each of us needs to practice loving oneself just as much as we love others.

So next time we talk to ourselves throw in a little love and compassion, it will make a difference in yourself and those around you.
