I discovered something this first week of New Years. All the resolutions and best laid plans for the coming year go to pot when you start the year with a knock you down cold. Every time I got up to get on the computer to post a brilliant Pew, or work on my next book my body sent me back to bed or at least to a comfortable chair where all I could do is close my eyes. It was a reminder and a lesson that something always interferes with one’s best laid plans. You may have a day trip planned to the mountains but a dead battery or a flat tire throws a big monkey wrench into the works. You know what I mean.
As I tell my grandkids, “Things happen.” They have a hard time learning this adage, most adults do as well, but if there is one thing that is certain, “Things happen.” The nice thing is that the really important things can wait until you deal with the immediate, and if it won’t wait it just wasn’t meant to be.
Next week, unless something happens, I’ll try to lay out some exciting things about the Hubbell Pew and 2019. In the meantime whatever happens don’t let it get to you. Things happen and most of the time there’s a reason.
