Letting Go of Attachments

I was talking to a dear friend this weekend. She and her husband recently decided to get rid of a bunch of furniture they had accumulated and to some extent were emotionally attached.

I expected her to say that every time a charity came to pick up a piece of furniture it tore her apart, but not so.
Instead she said with each gift to charity, she felt a great load leave her, and she felt so much lighter and happier.
She understood and felt why there are times we need to let go of attachments to things, and the power of giving.
Giving to others certainly benefits the recipient, but the benefits of giving are much more meaningful and powerful for the giver.
This advent consider learning what my friend did. Each gift lightens your own load until your heart soars.
