Out Of This Trust

I trust that God is in me. I trust that my labor is holy. Out of this trust I live. — Herman Hesse.

No, the above quote is not from one of Hesse’s many characters such as Siddhartha, Damien, or the Magister Ludi. It is Hesse talking about a single tree.

However, if I could adopt a personal philosophy which would do me great service the above hits the mark.

In this morning’s meditation I thought about the concept that God was actually part of me. If that’s the case, I better take care of this body a whole lot better. For my labor to be holy I need to do a lot more for others and a whole lot less for me.

More importantly, if God is in me and my labor is holy, then my life would indeed be fulfilled. Hesse’s statement about a single tree is a roadmap to a wonderful and fulfilling life, don’t you think?
