I Will Strive

I will strive to follow a blameless life. – Psalm 101:2.

I believe the key words here are “I will strive.” None of us accomplish the goal of a blameless life, a life without sin, or day without a mistake. But I do believe that most of us do “strive.”

One of the overarching stories of the New Testament is that even those who walked with Jesus and were in his blameless presence could not accomplish a “blameless life” — a life without denial, without fault, and without doubt. Since the disciples couldn’t pull off a blameless life even after the divine nature of Christ was revealed, we are granted leeway.

God doesn’t ask that we live a blameless life, only that we “strive.”
