Saturday in the Second Week of Lent

“… by their fruits ye shall know them”

What are the fruits of a Lenten discipline? The writer Farrington said, “that any spiritual discipline worth its salt should lead to a more loving, compassionate, realistic engagement with the world.” For most of us giving up chocolate doesn’t seem to have that degree of significance. Yet when one combines prayer, fasting, meditation, and study we begin to light a fire within ourselves that can build into something beautiful and illuminating.

This Lent allow the flame to build at its own pace and then when you need it, when greater demands are made of you, you will be prepared.
