Letters to Tom — Thanksgiving

Dear Tom and Casey:

Happy Thanksgiving! Thanksgiving has always been one of my very favorite holidays. I love the gatherings of friends and family; the Turkey Feast with dressing pies, cakes, special recipes and more; the spirit that takes over a community and gives thanks and shares bounty. I could go on and on. Each of us have such special memories of Thanksgivings past, and we bore each other reciting the events. One special Thanksgiving includes you, Tom and Casey. Since that Thanksgiving we always buy enough butter.

This year I add a special guest to our festive day – my new organ “George” joins us. Without his presence I would be missing Thanksgiving this year. I hope he enjoys Pecan Pie. I believe that the human race needs Thanksgiving as a reminder of the way we should be all year long. First, — thankful – we all have something for to be grateful. On Thanksgiving we focus on the good in our lives, and we bow our heads in prayer to the source of that goodness. Second – the spirit that overtakes us on that day and causes us share our bounty and to think, even for a fleeting moment to those who are in need. Finally, our thoughts turn to family, near or far, absent or present and we drink in all that links us together. Yes, we need Thanksgiving to remind us of what the world could be like every day of the year.

Enjoy the day my dear friends. Happy Thanksgiving!
