Going in Circles

We shall not cease from exploration. And the end of all our exploring will be to arrive where we started and know that place for the first time. T.S. Eliot (Little Gidding).

Ever wake up and feel like you’ve made absolutely no progress. I certainly have and continue to do so. It might be about my continual battle to get healthier and in shape. It might be about my efforts to work and get ahead of the bills for a change. It also happens on our spiritual journeys. And whether it’s of the mind, the body, or the spirit we discover that none of our journeys are linear. We circle back to the same places, experience the same challenges, and fall into the same traps. The good news is that we find ourselves slowly growing and changing in the process. In the words of T.S.  Elliot we “arrive where we started and know that place for the first time.” I call it seeing with new eyes.

Today is a good day to reflect on our week, our month, our year and, yes, our life. We reflect on what has changed in our life and what has remained the same. What do we see differently with the perspective of wisdom given by experience. Then give thanks for a life of going forward and backward, spiraling and circling around. Have a great weekend.
