Time To Think

My friend and counselor, Dr. Luis Conte, used to constantly remind me to set aside time to simply think. Many of us have difficulty doing just that. We feel that if we are not doing something, we are being lazy or unproductive. My friend would always come back saying, “Do you think if anyone ever passed by Einstein’s door and saw him doing nothing, sitting in his chair with his eyes closed, that person would say Einstein was being lazy. No, they would whisper to everyone, ‘Quiet, Professor Einstein is thinking.’”

I say to all, when the smallest instinct or desire of the heart calls you to God give it time and your full attention. Retire to a place of peace, be silent, and humbly attentive because a new light will rise within you. Thinking far from the hurry, noise, and tumult in the streets of life is essential to spiritual as well as mental health. Be it never said of you — “he/she had no time to think or feel.”
