Two Masters

No man can serve two masters. – Matthew 6:24

We are all familiar with this biblical quote, but ask yourself how many do you serve? I know I’ve been juggling masters most my life, never successfully, and I think that’s why Jesus tries to remind me to let them all go, and to serve God first and foremost and all the rest will take care of itself.

We give up a lot of indulgences for conscience sake, but don’t we all fall short of entire faithfulness and consequently sacrifice the reward of serving only one master. If only we give ourselves wholly to God – give up all, for the present and future, every act, thought, and feeling that worships something other than God. I truly believe such a sacrifice would bring us such peace and become so easy we would question why we held on to the false Gods for so long.
