Rest

My presence shall go with thee, and I will give thee rest. – EX. 33:14

It’s Monday morning and many of you are kicking yourself for not getting more rest last weekend. Like physical rest, resting in God cannot be done in spurts or half-doses. If you give yourself in half doses, you cannot find full rest; there will ever be a lurking disquiet in the half that is withheld. Saints have tasted this kind of rest, and perhaps you have as well. Certainly, you have known someone who has rested completely with God. They walk with an air of calm and confidence no matter what the situation.

This morning drink from God’s well of comforting rest. Give your self wholly to him and your weary life will be renewed and refreshed. The heart once fairly given to God will find a rest coming over him or her as if they had been dipped in magic waters.
