Every Cooking Pot

… and every cooking pot in Jerusalem and Judah shall be sacred…. — Zechariah 14:21.

After Thanksgiving day turkey, and turkey sandwiches and leftovers on Friday, if you are lucky to have more leftovers left the cooking pots get creative. Due to Covid, Suzy and I this year still have plenty and I’m excited about the possibilities. Could a spicy turkey pasta or creative soup dish be in my future?

The numbers of people who are going hungry or are food challenged in this land of plenty is scary, challenging, and heartbreaking. I watch in amazement the lines of cars waiting to pick up a Thanksgiving meal from food shelters and banks, and feel good about the outpouring, but bad that we have so many neighbors who have to wait for hours to get a Thanksgiving meal.

I don’t have answers, but as a society and as neighbors we must find a way to make sure every cooking pot in the world “is full and sacred.”
