God’s Wonders

The Heavens bear witness to your wonders, O Lord. — Psalm 89.5a.

Readers of the Pew know about my affinity for beaches. A dear friend gave me a book about my favorite beach, Pawleys Island. As I scrolled through its pages, I was reminded of Pawleys glorious sunrises and sunsets. Nothing calms my soul as much as the rhythm of the waves coming into Pawleys’ shore.

This year, long walks on Pawleys beach have been limited by my health battles; but now as I recover, the Tides call me. When I was younger, I was always too busy to enjoy the magnificence of beaches and oceans and their restorative powers. On vacation and while my children played, I was reading legal briefs and worried about matters back home.

Maybe God gives us time when we are older to make up for the time lost when we are young — time to “bear witness to (his) wonders.” What do you think?
