Worst of Fortune

There is in the worst of fortune the best of chances for a happy change. — Euripides.

Year 2023 schooled me about health fortunes. I saw, way too many times, people dealing with serious diseases and crippling injuries. Their courage taught me so much about myself and my own minor ailments.

I came across the above wisdom from Euripides and I thought once again about my fellow travelers and the times in my life when I thought “things can’t get much worse.” Each time those words came to my mind, I  saw or heard about someone who made me feel like i was the “luckiest man in the world.”

My tough experiences were hardly brought on by God. I don’t think she works that way. But I do think God wants us to learn from our mistakes, our bad fortune, and tough times. Euripides has it right, take advantage of his teaching.
