Is It Dark Enough

… because the world is all messed up. The nation is sick. Trouble is in the land; confusion all around…. But I know, somehow, that only when it is dark enough, can you see the stars. — Dr. Martin Luther King.

Dr. King spoke the above words the night before his assassination. That night in Memphis wasn’t the only time that many were concerned about the health of our nation or the world. History repeats itself.

It’s fitting that tonight we begin the process of selecting our President. It will be easy to dwell on darkness and trouble for the next  months, but wouldn’t it be nice to look for the stars.
