Made Well

Do you want to be made well? — John 5:6.

Jesus’s question to the man who had been ill for thirty-eight years seems to have an obvious answer — “of course.” Why would anyone answer — “No?”

We often have good intentions, but we fail to do what is necessary to return to health. We fail to exercise, eat the right foods, continue bad habits, the list goes on. Even when health doesn’t require much we often ignore the doctor’s orders. Why do you think this is so?

Health challenges are simply a significant part of maturity. Answering God’s question in the affirmative is an important part of the maturation. Next time God asks, “Do you want to be made well?” Answer with a thunderous, yes.
