Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today, and creates a vision for tomorrow. Melody Beattie
“Thanks.” The word roles of our tongue sometimes without thought or meaning. Mothers remind their daughters to write thank you notes to the point of nagging. You buy preprinted thank you’s to save time, and we receive so many thank you’s from vendors the whole concept of thanks seems to be second nature but hardly heart felt.
I don’t believe the above is what Melody has in mind when she talks about gratitude. She is talking about an attitude, a way of life. I bet you know someone who goes about life being truly grateful, no matter what turmoil they are going through. Aren’t they a joy to be around, and a person we would like to emulate.
We can all adopt an attitude of gratitude, of true thanks. The practice of giving thanks, of cultivating an attitude of gratitude is good for our soul, mind, and bodies. Focusing on the blessings in our life helps us endure the hard times. It begins with God. It begins in our heart. As we move through today consider your blessing, large and small, and give heartfelt thanks to God. You’ll be surprised how good you feel.
