Satisfaction

I can’t get no satisfaction – Mick Jagger

The longest journey

Is the journey inwards

Of him who has chosen his destiny,

Who has started upon his quest

For the source of his being…   — Dag Hammarskjold, Markings

I couldn’t help myself. I had to begin with Mick. I can’t think about the word satsfaction without the Rolling Stone’s song entering my brain. I’m a child of the sixties.

It’s in our nature not to be satisfied. If we weren’t think what that would do to Madison Avenue and the billions spent every year convincing us that whatever they are selling will bring us that illusive feeling – satisfaction.

What no one tells you because it doesn’t sell product or services is that satisfaction is in yourself, the impediment too is in yourself. God gives us the tools and is there to guide us if we only worked as hard finding it within, as we do seeking it from some outside source. Satisfaction is there to be worked out whether it require the poetic, the heroic, or the ordinary. All the time, money, and effort we spend seeking satisfaction from outside sources imprisons us to the Gods and kingdoms of materiality. Know this truth, the thing you seek, the satisfaction you crave, is already within you.
