Monday in the Second Week of Lent

I would have you without carefulness. – 1 Cor. 7:32

It is a natural feeling to dread Monday, that is unless you have Monday’s off. My last job on sabbatical was the breakfast cook. I’d cook eggs for 300, etc. I had Monday’s off so I look forwarded to Monday’s like many do Saturday’s. I’d sleep in till at least 6:30 A.M. ( Breakfast cooks start work at 4:00 A.M.) , have an extra hard work out after breakfast, and then enjoy the rest of my day while other’s went to work.

Whatever day of the week begins your week, set aside a little extra time to set aside all your cares to God. It will help with the anxiety, especially anxiety about the little things, if every week you take a minute to consciously say to God, “I commit my anxieties and cares to you. I need your help because I have your work to do this week, and I don’t need to be bothered with the small stuff.” Amazingly over time you will learn to trust God with your problems and he will strengthen you for the tasks ahead. Lent is a good time to develop this habit. Try it. You might be surprised.
