Let us not therefore judge one another any more: but judge this rather, that no man put a stumbling-block, or an occasion to fall, in his brother’s way. – Romans 14:13
During Lent we are more attentive to the little things that make a difference. We are conscious of not judging or throwing stones, but during Lent we become more aware and careful when speaking. Our expressions of impatience, prevent others from taking something in patiently. A small disappointment, nagging pain, or even this year’s weather depresses us, and our look or tone hinders others from maintaining a cheerful spirit. When we say something unkind, we prevent our neighbors from being charitable.
We also become more aware that we can become a “stumbling-block” without word or act. Our feelings, our body language, our facial expressions are more infectious than wrong doing. Thus concentrate on those little subtle words and expressions that may indeed hinder or block our neighbor’s way to God.
