Every saint has a past and every sinner has a future. — Oscar Wilde
Oscar Wilde must has seen into the future and predicted American politics. Every candidate claims to be the one for the future, and at the same time points a finger at his/her opponents past failures and mistakes as to why you shouldn’t vote for him/her.
This type of judgment isn’t limited to politics. We all have things in our past we wish to forget or overcome, I certainly fall into that category and I’m no saint. At the same time, we all hope and have plans for our future if only we will let go of the past.
Lent is a time to put our past truly behind us and look to the promise of Easter, where all sins are forgiven and we pray, meditate, fast, and perform service to prepare for a new and bright future.
