If you are into beginning a meditation with a mantra I recommend trying, “I am worthy.” That’s right begin by reminding yourself that you are worthy of love without working to earn it. Too often we spend a lifetime trying to earn love and respect, when by the nature of your existence God has already bestowed worth on you.
One of the consistent messages of the New Testament is that we are all loved by God, and if God thinks you are worthy no man or woman should treat you differently. Nor should we treat another as being unworthy. What is the verse, “We are all equal in the sight of God?”
When we shift our thinking to, “I am worthy,” a new world opens. We no longer are slaves to our job, we sleep a little better, we are more comfortable with our friends, family, and strangers, and we find we have a lot more time to live the life God wants us to live.
Even if you don’t use a mantra or even meditate, remind yourself on occassion that you are worthy. It will make your days much easier, and it will help you treat your neighbors in the same fashion. Kindness doesn’t just apply to others, remember to begin by being kind to yourself, because “you are worthy.”
