The Hubbell Pew Goes On a Short Sabbatical

People ask what did you learn during your major sabbatical back in the nineties.

Well, there were many things I learned, but one was to listen, once again. Most importantly, I relearned to listen to the voices inside me. Somehow amongst the rap music, loud shouts of young men, and the ever present voice over the loudspeaker that instructs one’s movements, I began to listen once again.

Every now and then since, I have found it helpful to go off and listen, so tomorrow Suzy and head north the famous retreat center of Chautauqua. Interestingly, this week’s program is on Ethics in the Media — should be fascinating.

The Hubbell Pew returns on Monday the 21st right before the eclipse. See you then. W.
