Speak No Evil

Today’s meditation is dedicated to all of our political leaders.

Speak no evil one of another, brethren. – James 4:11

Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamor, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice. – Ephesians 4:31

If there is any person to whom you feel dislike, that is the person of whom you ought never to speak. – Anonymous.

Remember your mother saying, “If you can’t say something nice about someone, then say nothing at all.” I certainly do. I also remember mocking those words behind her back, but the more wisdom I obtain, the more her words ring true. To find joy in seeing the good in your bitterest enemy, to admire the qualities of those who you have the least sympathy — this is the spirit that heals the soul.
