Spiritually Minded

To be spiritually minded is life and peace. – Romans 8:6

I can’t tell you how often I hear someone say, “I’m not religious, but I’m spiritual.” What do they mean? I think it begins with an endeavor to obtain a calmer spirit, so we can better serve God and one another. We seek to be quiet and cheerful and live as if we were in heaven while we are on earth.

We obtain peaceful spirit, by letting all things fall away that trouble or agitate us. Imagine a bucket full of water being swung wildly – the water is agitated and turbulent. How do we calm the water? By setting it down and letting go of the handle. We do the same with our spirit, when we become anxious and agitated, we set its cause down and in a few moments our spirit is as still as the water in the bucket once it was set down.
