Ember Days

Today is one of the three ember days, days set aside for prayer, fasting, and to give thanks for God’s creation of the earth.

Recently we have had several tragedies in the U.S. that remind us of the fragility of our planet. Hurricane Ida not only devastated Louisiana but created havoc all the way to Maine. Wildfires on the west coast seem to get worse and worse, and individual cases of flooding bring heartbreak in the heartland of this country.

God created this planet in a way science is still trying to discover, but what we do know is its future is in our hands. May we learn to preserve God’s creation, not destroy it.
