Poet’s Day

It has been raining a lot in North Carolina. In fact, it has been raining a lot all over the States. Thunderstorms, hail, tornadoes, and floods dominate the news. If your roof leaks you certainly know it by now.

But here in Charlotte, today the sun is shining, the rain has washed all the pollen and junk out of the air, the temperature is mild, and the outdoors screams, “join me!” I call these wonderful days — poet’s days — the kind of days that inspire the poets.

I know there are lots of poets who write gloomy compositions. I admire their gift, but give me a poem that inspires me or touches my soul, any day. I guess this preference says a lot about me.

If you are having a poet’s day where you live, join it with all the pleasure you can muster. It will be “as if you dipped your toes in magic water.”
